MCS - Micro Generation Scheme
The MCS certificates microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources.
MCS has been developed to provide consumers with an assurance that microgeneration products and installation companies meet a robust set of standards. The MCS is also linked to financial incentives such as Feed in Tariffs.
Renewable Energy Assurance
The aim of the REAL Assurance Scheme is to ensure that consumers wishing to install a small-scale heat or power generation unit for their homes have the necessary confidence and service standards so that they can make an informed choice.
Gas Safe Register
Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in Great Britain and Isle of Man on 1 April 2009 and Northern Ireland and Guernsey on 1 April 2010.
The HSE carried out a review of gas safety in 2006 which led to the decision to change to a new gas registration scheme. The contract to run the new scheme was awarded to Capita and the Gas Safe Register was launched. The sole focus of the register is on improving and maintaining gas safety to the highest standards.
Code for Sustainable Homes
The Code for Sustainable Homes is an environmental impact rating system for housing in England & Wales, setting new standards for energy efficiency (above those in current building regulations) and sustainability which are not mandatory under current building regulations but represent important developments towards limiting the environmental impact of housing.
